Artist Statement
Re-focused explores the possibilities that arise when three-dimensional objects are composed into a one-dimensional design. I aimed to create a distinctive visual rhythm for each piece, inspired by a diverse array of objects and observations.
Process Statement
The abstract images of Re-focused were made using found objects, rubber stamps, thread, and paper of various weights, textures and opacities. Combined and layered for each image, the elements were placed on top of a light table housed with fluorescent tubes to be captured digitally.
The background colors are determined by selecting fluorescent tubes with various color temperatures and utilizing color balancing options on the camera.
